Larson to consult with customers for innovative solutions and stewardship

Steve Larson - Ornamental SpecialistRESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (September 12, 2016) – As part of the ongoing plan to expand into the production ornamentals market, Environmental Science, a business unit of the Crop Science division of Bayer, today announced the appointment of Steven Larson as an ornamental specialist. In his new role, Larson will help build the Bayer brand with customers and distributors in the ornamentals market.

“Steve has extensive experience and a strong technical background that will help identify solutions for our customers.” said John Wendorf, Manager for the Bayer professional ornamentals business. “Using a consultative approach, Bayer is committed to providing innovation and stewardship to customers.”

Larson has been involved in the industry for a number of years, focusing mostly on customer relationships and collaboration. He has been the plant health manager with Hines Nursery (now a property of Color Spot Nurseries), head grower at The Brookwood Community, field technical manager for The Scotts Company, and served in sales and sales management positions with Whitmire Micro-Gen, The Scotts Company and BASF. Larson holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Purdue University in Horticulture.

“Bayer is focused on innovation and the future of the ornamentals industry,” Wendorf said. “We’re on the cusp of game changing innovation and it makes sense for us to bring Steve into the group to help us steward that innovation into the market.”

“The Bayer expansion into ornamentals is an extension of our corporate commitment to Science for a Better Life, and to foster healthy environments where we live, work, and play,” Wendorf said.

About Bayer Production Ornamentals

Last October, Bayer announced a plan to expand the way its T&O business serves growers. Following 26 years of a highly valued partnership with OHP, Inc., Bayer will begin selling to the production ornamentals market starting November 1, 2016. The transition marks a new commitment from Bayer to more fully serve professional growers in greenhouses, nurseries and garden centers across the United States.
