Premise Foam
Application Tips
- Premise Foam creates foam with an expansion ratio of about 30:1. However, proper agitation is required to optimize expansion. Vigorously shake can up and down for at least five seconds before applying Premise Foam.
- Once agitated, Premise Foam will remain mixed within the can for at least 30 minutes without additional shaking.
- Premise Foam comes with a flexible, transparent application hose, which allows easy application into tight spaces and helps you monitor product movement into treated areas.
- The injection tip supplied with each can of Premise Foam is for injection into deep cavities, such as behind wallboard, in carton nests or in tree hollows.
- The blunt tip provided with each can of Premise Foam is designed for shallow cavities close to exposed surfaces, such as within galleries or damaged wood.
- To prevent leaks, firmly seal the injection or blunt tip into the collar.
- When drilling holes to receive the injector tip:
- Use a 1/8-inch drill bit.
- For improved coverage, distribute drill holes across the infested area.
- Be careful near utilities and do not drill until you have located potential hazards.
- Seal drill holes after treatment.
- To avoid run-off when injecting into a cavity:
- Firmly press injector tip against substrate to force foam into the injection site.
- Continue to hold the tip against the injection site for five seconds after releasing the actuator valve to allow product in the application hose to fully expand into the treated area.
- Carry paper towels to wipe up any excess foam.
- Premise Foam dispenses (liquid) product at a rate of 0.2 fluid ounces per second. Each can delivers about 90 seconds of application time.
- When treating a gallery or void if unknown size, dispense foam in increments of five seconds or less to:
- Monitor application volumes,
- Minimize product waste, and
- Limit the opportunity for run-off.
- In 2x4-in. frame construction where studs are 16 inches on-center, a 4-second application of Premise Foam will coat exposed surfaces in insulated wall voids to a height of 12 inches above the base plate. In noninsulated voids, considerably more Premise Foam will be needed to achieve the same coverage.
- Use the blunt tip when treating insulated wall voids to prevent puncturing insulation materials.
- Do not use or store near heat or open flame. Exposure to temperatures above 130 degrees F may burst cans.
- Dispose of empty cans properly by discarding in trash. Never puncture or incinerate an empty can.
